Terms of Use

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") apply to the Scrollway app for iPhone and iPad and this website (together, "Scrollway"). By downloading or using Scrollway you agree to these Terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple EULA"). If these Terms and the Apple EULA conflict, these Terms apply to the extent allowed. If you don't agree, please don't use Scrollway.

2. License

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Scrollway on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store Usage Rules. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the app or its original content (lessons, explanations, artwork, music, sounds and games), except where the law allows.

3. Scripture and educational content

  • Scripture quotations are from the World English Bible (WEB), which is in the public domain.
  • Explanations, summaries and quiz content are our own educational material. They are labeled as explanations and are never presented as Scripture.
  • We work hard to keep facts accurate, but historical dates and some details are approximate, and Christian traditions differ on some topics.
  • Scrollway is for learning and encouragement. It is not pastoral counseling, nor medical, mental-health, legal or financial advice. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services, a trusted professional or a helpline such as those listed at findahelpline.com.
  • Scrollway is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any church, denomination, Bible publisher or other app. "World English Bible" is a trademark of eBible.org and the text is reproduced unaltered.

3a. Age and family use

Scrollway is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. Children should use it with a parent's or guardian's permission, and purchases by minors require the permission of a parent or guardian, which Apple's Ask to Buy and Screen Time controls can enforce.

4. Premium subscriptions and purchases

  • Scrollway is free to download. Optional Scrollway Premium is offered as auto-renewing subscriptions (for example, Annual, Monthly and Family Annual) and, at times, as a one-time Lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Free trial: if a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
  • Manage or cancel anytime in your iPhone's Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds directly.
  • Family Sharing: Family Annual can be shared with up to five other members of your Apple family group.
  • Rewards, garden items, currencies (such as dew and talents), trophies and ranks in the app have no cash value, can't be bought, sold or transferred, and are earned only by using the app.

5. Your content

Anything you type into Scrollway (names, notes, highlights, prayers) stays on your device and belongs to you. We don't receive it. You're responsible for keeping your own backups.

6. Acceptable use

Please don't misuse Scrollway, for example by trying to break its security, interfere with its operation, or use it in violation of any law.

6a. Intellectual property and third-party materials

Scrollway's name, logo, original lessons, explanations, artwork, music, sounds and games belong to us or our licensors. Typefaces are used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 (see Settings, then Acknowledgements, in the app). Links to other websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content. If you believe something in Scrollway infringes your rights, email us with details and we will review it promptly.

7. Changes and availability

We may update, change or discontinue features or content at any time. We may update these Terms; if we make important changes we'll update the effective date, and continuing to use Scrollway means you accept the new Terms.

8. Disclaimers

Scrollway is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't guarantee that Scrollway will be error-free or uninterrupted.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of Scrollway. Our total liability for any claim relating to Scrollway is limited to the amount you paid for Scrollway in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer-protection laws that can't be waived.

10. Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Scrollway or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you. Apple's role in purchases, refunds and warranty claims is described in the Apple EULA.

11. Termination

These Terms apply until ended by you or us. You can end them by deleting Scrollway. Your license ends automatically if you break these Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where the developer of Scrollway is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not take away any right you have under the consumer-protection laws of the country where you live, including the right to bring a claim there. Before starting any formal claim, please email us so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

13. General

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms, together with the Apple EULA and our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Scrollway. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
